What is Orwik

Orwik is a collaboration platform coupled with analysis tools, and publication service for researchers in the life-sciences. Orwik was inspired by the challenges triggered by digitization of experimental results and subsequent rise of translational research . The new paradigm is impacting all aspects of scientific work, from data acquisition and analysis to publishing.

Orwik will you help find colleagues to collaborate with, tools to analyze your data and relevant background material to use in your research. Using Orwik, you can be sure that your past work is always accessible, and you will never again have to think about the mundane issues of IT that distract from your focus on science.

Our mission at Orwik is to help scientists, institutions and organizations accelerate the process of discovery and enable translational science by building sustainable inter-disciplinary communities and providing shared
access to critical pieces of information. As scientists ourselves, we have designed a best-in-class platform to transform collaboration, discovery and dissemination of new science.

At Orwik we are dedicated to helping create lasting impact from research by increasing efficiency, broadening collaboration and ensuring continuity. Our platform is designed to help scientists exchange and discuss ongoing work, provide a platform to share their ideas and ultimately to publish their work. We are here to provide the best way for scientists and engineers to work together on the next life-saving discovery.

Who is Orwik for?

Orwik is for individual laboratories and PIs who are sick of looking for data stuck in lab-share by a graduate student or post-doc that is long-gone.

Orwik is for foundations who want to manage their research grants and encourage their grantee teams to collaborate and share data.

Who was Orwik built by

Orwik was built by a passionate team of scientists, engineers, designers, physicians and academics and is dedicated to helping inter-disciplinary teams like ours to collaborate, share and publish. We strongly believe in eating your own dogfood, use Orwik every day to make the service better for our customers. In the coming months, you will see us publish materials on how Orwik was built, designed and implemented.

Why now?

In recent years, technological innovations that permit miniaturization of reaction volumes and parallelization of experiments have resulted in increasing efficiencies of extracting and digitizing results from life-science research. The resulting growth and digitization of data are causing a fundamental shift in the way we store, analyze, and publish. Generation and analysis of data requires interdisciplinary collaborations across departments, universities, and countries. We desperately need a collaborative environment that helps scientists deal with the data deluge. Orwik is the right solution to foster inter-disciplinary and translational research.

What Orwik isn’t.

Orwik is not Facebook for scientists. Orwik is not about what you’re doing right now. Orwik is not who you know, but what knowledge you want to share with colleagues and with the world.
